Basic Technique: Ending A Leather Strap

Type 1:
Slot in the leather strap between the centre of the
fastener, squeeze one side down and then the other
side to secure. Add a few drops of jewellery glue to
secure the ending.

Type 2:
Slot in the leather strap between the centre of the
fastener, close the metal flap with pliers. Add a few
drops of jewellery glue to secure the ending.

Basic Technique: Opening And Closing C-Ring

Step 1:

Hold the C-Ring with 2 pairs of pliers. To open the
C-Ring, bring one of the pliers towards you.

Step 2:
To attach chain or jewellery finding, loop C-Ring
through the last link of the chain and then reverse
the action in Step 1 to close.

Basic Technique: Ending A Spiral Crimp

Steps:
Fit the ends of the cord right through the spiral crimp.
Move the spiral crimp slightly to hide the raw edges
and squeeze the end ring to secure. Add a few drops
of jewellery glue to secure the ending.

Basic Technique: Ending With Calottes And Stopper

Steps:
Place a calotte followed by a stopper at the end of the
necklace/bracelet. Squeeze the stopper with Flat Nose pliers
until it is flat. Trim the end close to the stopper and add few
drops of jewellery glue to secure the ending. Close the calotte
gently with Flat Nose pliers. Repeat the same for the other end.

Basic Technique: Creating A Loop

Step 1:
Cut off the excess wire, leaving 8mm above the last bead.

Step 2:
With Round Nose pliers, bend the wire around the pliers until
the tip touches the wire. Change the position of the pliers and
bend the wire back slightly so that it is centered over the last bead.

Step 3:
To attach looped beads together, use Round Nose pliers to open
a loop on one end. Slip it onto the loop of another. Then close
the first loop.

Caring for your Jewellery

1. Place your jewellery in a bowl of hot water with a few drops of original dish detergent. Using an old toothbrush or other soft brush, gently scrub behind the stone where dust and soap is usually collected. If the dirt has caked or hardened, you may have to soak the setting a bit longer and scrub again. Lastly rinse and dry with a soft cloth.

2. Remove all jewellery before any vigorous activities. All gemstones though usually hard, are brittle and can chip if hit against a hard surface. Even a diamond can chip if hit the right way. Every day household items can ruin your gemstone jewellery. Don't expose your gems to the chemicals in cleaning products, hair care products, fragrances and cosmetics.

3. When getting dressed, put your jewellery on last. Remove your jewellery before showering or cleaning. Soap can leave a sparkle-dimming film. Similiarly, do not wear jewellery when applying makeup and face/body powder, as they can dull its shine. Always apply makeup and hair spray BEFORE you put your jewellery on. Wash and dry your hands before handling your jewellery to avoid smudging the gemstones with natural oils in your fingers. At the end of the day, take your jewellery off first.

4. When travelling or storing your jewellery, be careful to wrap your jewellery in soft cloth or gem papers so that the stones do not clank together with the possibility of chipping or scratching the polished surface of your jewellery. Store the jewellery inside a secure crushproof container when travelling.

Gel candles make a great gift and are also an affordable home décor item. It can be customized for all occasions like CNY, Valentine's Day, and Christmas etc. You are only limited by your imagination and creativity.

Since year 2000, Craft Hub has provided training at our premises and off-site at various venues throughout the island. Our core business is in teaching creative crafts, including children's crafts, adult handicrafts, and jewellery crafts. We hold workshops on our premises in a relaxed environment. We also do off-site workshops at the invitation of companies and other leisure organizations such as -DSTA, SINGAPORE TRAFFIC POLICE , CIVIL SERVICE CLUB, A*STAR, NTUC CHILD CARE, NTUC CLUB, NUSS, NY POLY,OVERSEAS FAMILY SCHOOL, GNS SCHOOL etc

Craft Hub was invited to present their DIY jewellery to 400 VIPs at the event organized by Aerospace 2006.

In 2007, we were invited to conduct a course on “Jewellery-making and Entrepreneurship" to a group of secondary school students from Whitley Sec School. We also conducted a series of 5 workshops in “Home-based Business -Jewellery-making”to a group of 20 ladies at the South-West CDC. Craft Hub later went on to support 5 of the ladies to set-up a push-cart business at the Path Market at Vivo City.

We do online and wholesale of DIY packages and festive packs to individuals trying to start-up a push-cart business. To cater to the needs of our students and courses, we travel overseas and import the materials ourselves at a very reasonable price.
